Profile
Douglas Jennings studied figurative sculpture at Stafford Art College where he was inspired by renaissance sculptors such as Bernini and Michelangelo. He embarked upon his career at Madame Tussauds where he specialised in portrait sculpture of celebrities and historical figures. His interest in developing realistic and accurate portrait figures has continued as a freelance artist. His approach to sculpture now is varied both in style and medium from loosely modelled to a very high realistic finish. He sculpts with sensitivity to the human form whether in miniature or large scale bronze.
Douglas's commissions include 'Mrs Jordan' for the Royal Collection Buckingham Palace and 'Jupitus' for Matthew Wurr and Co. for the Queen Mary II cruise liner, public figures such as Ken Livingstone, Mayor of London and various private international collections. His most recent work has been for the Turner prize winning artist Gillian wearing where he created six portraits for her exhibition 'Album'.
As part of the process in creating a sculpture for the home, boardroom or Public areas Douglas is able to consult with you and use a broad range of references to create a memorable and unique work of art.
